Quotes
The Quotes page is your own quote pipeline. You can write a quote for a brand-new prospect who is not a SIPSTACK customer yet, or for one of the customers you already manage. Every quote starts as a draft — nothing reaches the recipient until you send it.
You only ever see your own quotes here. A quote created by another partner, or by SIPSTACK’s internal sales team, simply does not exist on this page.
Who the quote is for
Section titled “Who the quote is for”The Customer menu at the top of the builder sets which of the two paths you are on:
- A managed customer — the menu lists the customers whose partner link with you is active. Picking one fills in their company name and billing email, and stamps the quote against their organization.
- New prospect (not yet a customer) — the default. The quote is not tied to any organization; you type the company, contact name and email yourself.
Contact email is the only required field, because it is where the quote gets sent. Everything else on that half of the form is optional.
Line items are catalog-locked
Section titled “Line items are catalog-locked”You choose what goes on a quote. SIPSTACK decides what it costs.
For each line you pick a product and (where it applies) a quantity. The unit price, product name, recurring flag, billing interval and any setup fee are read from the product catalog and re-resolved on the server when the quote is created — a partner cannot set, raise, or discount a price, and discount is always zero on a partner quote. That is what makes the number your prospect sees the real number.
A few consequences worth knowing:
- Only Nova plans are sold by the seat. You can set a quantity on a Nova line; every other product on the catalog is singular and bills a quantity of one, so its quantity box is locked.
- Usage-metered products cannot be quoted, because they can’t be expressed as quantity × unit price. They aren’t offered in the product menu.
- A product with no fixed price in the quote’s currency is rejected rather than silently mispriced.
The running Estimated total (before tax) under the line items is a preview only — the server recalculates the real totals when you create the quote.
Currency and validity
Section titled “Currency and validity”Currency (CAD or USD) decides which set of catalog prices the quote is built from, so switching it re-prices every line. Valid (days) is how long the offer stands before it expires; it defaults to 30 days and accepts 1–365.
Notes to the customer is optional and appears on the quote the recipient sees — use it for the context the line items can’t carry on their own.
Sending it
Section titled “Sending it”Create draft saves the quote, assigns it a quote number, and drops it on your list. Nothing has been emailed at that point.
Press Send on the row when you’re ready. SIPSTACK confirms the exact address first, then emails the recipient a secure link — not an attachment — so they can review the quote and accept it in their browser. Sending is one-way. Only a quote still in draft or pending review can be sent, so once it has gone out there is nothing to re-send from this page — every later status (Sent, Viewed, Negotiating and the rest) shows the text Sent where the button was. To put a revised offer in front of the same prospect, build a new quote.
Reading the status
Section titled “Reading the status”A partner-created quote starts at Draft and moves to Sent when you send it. These are the values the Status column can show:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Created, not sent. Only you can see it. |
| Pending review | Held before sending. Like a draft, it can still be sent. |
| Sent | Emailed to the recipient. |
| Viewed | The recipient has opened the quote. |
| Negotiating | Still in discussion — the recipient can still accept. |
| Accepted | The recipient accepted and signed it. |
| Declined | The recipient turned it down. |
| Expired | Past its Valid until date. It can no longer be accepted. |
| Converted | Subscriptions have been provisioned from it. |
The search box filters by quote number, company or email, so a long list stays workable.
