Fax Error Codes

When an outbound fax fails, SIPSTACK shows the reason with an error code, such as (Error FAX-102). You see it on the fax in the inbox, in the failure notification and in the failure email.

The codes are grouped by where the send stopped:

  • FAX-1xx: the call never reached a fax machine.
  • FAX-2xx: a fax machine answered, but the transfer did not finish.
  • FAX-3xx: a problem with the document or the number you sent from.
  • FAX-9xx: a problem on our side.

Outbound faxes are attempted once and are not retried automatically. To try again, send the fax again from the inbox.

  • the time you sent the fax.
