Toll-Free Verification
Toll-Free Verification
Section titled “Toll-Free Verification”Before a toll-free number can send text messages, it must be verified. Carriers block texts from unverified toll-free numbers, so verify each toll-free number you plan to text from before you use it in a campaign or conversation.
Verification is free and takes up to 5 business days.
You request it in Switchboard under Account → Phone Numbers → Toll-Free Verification.
Before You Start
Section titled “Before You Start”Your account must meet all of these before you can submit a request:
- A paid Flare SMS plan.
- A verified card on file.
- No past-due balance.
Each request covers one toll-free number. You can have at most 3 requests in progress at a time. When a request finishes, you can submit another.
What You Need
Section titled “What You Need”Gather this information before you open the form. Carriers check it against your website and public records, so make it accurate and consistent.
Business details

| Business registration number | Required unless you are a sole proprietor. Canada: your CBN, NEQ, or provincial registration number. US: your EIN. |

How you will use the number

| Sample message | Up to 500 characters. Write it the way you will actually send it. Include your brand name and STOP opt-out wording, for example: “Acme Dental: your appointment is tomorrow at 2 PM. Reply STOP to opt out.” |
How people opt in

Not Allowed
Section titled “Not Allowed”Toll-free verification is not available for messages about:
- Contests and sweepstakes
- Gambling
- Cryptocurrency
- Loans and debt
- Cannabis, alcohol, and tobacco
- Lead generation
Requests for these use cases are denied.
Submit a Request
Section titled “Submit a Request”- Go to Account → Phone Numbers and open the Toll-Free Verification tab.
- Choose the toll-free number you want to verify.
- Fill in the business, use-case, and opt-in details described above, and upload your opt-in screenshots.
- Review the request and submit it.
What Happens Next
Section titled “What Happens Next”- SIPSTACK review. SIPSTACK staff review every request before it goes to the carrier.
- Carrier review. The carrier reviews the request and approves or denies it.
The whole process takes up to 5 business days. Track your requests on the Toll-Free Verification tab.
Until the number is approved, it can’t send texts.
If Your Request Is Denied
Section titled “If Your Request Is Denied”What you can do depends on the denial reason:
- Fixable reasons — correct the details and resubmit within 7 days.
- Permanent reasons — the request can’t be resubmitted.
