Port-Out Authorization

← General

Port-out moves a phone number from SIPSTACK to another carrier. You do it yourself in Switchboard, for one number or several at once. There is no port-out form to submit.

  1. In Switchboard, go to Account → Phone Numbers, open the number, and select the Port-out tab.
  2. Click Unlock. SIPSTACK shows a port-out PIN for that number, valid for 30 days or until your next invoice is issued, whichever comes first.
  3. Give the PIN and the number to your new carrier. The new carrier submits the port and controls its scheduling.
  4. The number keeps working on SIPSTACK until it shows Ported Out. A ported-out number is no longer billed.

A PIN issued on a number’s Port-out tab is for that number only. To move several numbers at once, select them on Account → Phone Numbers and click Unlock for transfer: they share one PIN with the same validity, and re-locking one of them cancels the PIN for that number only. If a PIN expires, unlock the number again for a new one. You can re-lock a number at any time to stop a port.

The Port-out tab appears only for account owners and users with the Release / Port-out Numbers permission. If you do not see it, ask your account owner.

Porting numbers out does not close your SIPSTACK account. If you are leaving SIPSTACK, port your numbers out first, then cancel the account at Account → Cancel Account.

See Phone number detail: Port-out tab and Leaving SIPSTACK for the full guide.
