2N IP Intercom Setup Guide
2N IP intercoms register with SIPSTACK Nova PBX as ordinary SIP extensions. Pressing a call button calls an extension, ring group or queue, and you answer at a desk phone, softphone or mobile app.

Why 2N Is Manual
Section titled “Why 2N Is Manual”2N does not publish the format of its configuration file, or whether a file that lists only some settings is merged into the intercom’s settings or replaces them. A wrong guess could wipe the door’s switches, access codes, cards and directory, so SIPSTACK does not send 2N intercoms a file.
Step 1: Create the Extension
Section titled “Step 1: Create the Extension”- In Switchboard, create an extension for the intercom under Nova PBX → Extensions (for example
740, “Front door”). - Open the extension and copy the values on its SIP Auth tab: the SIP server, the Username (your organization slug and the extension, for example
acme-740) and the Password. Use each row’s copy button; most registration failures are a typo or a trailing space.
Step 2: Enter the SIP Settings on the Intercom
Section titled “Step 2: Enter the SIP Settings on the Intercom”- Open the intercom’s web interface at
http://{intercom-ip}and sign in as admin. - Go to Services → Phone → SIP 1.
- Turn the SIP account on and enter:
| 2N field | Value |
|---|---|
| Display name | A label, for example Front door |
| Phone number (ID) | The Username from the SIP Auth tab (for example acme-740), never the bare 740 |
| Domain | The SIP server from the SIP Auth tab. This is the realm the intercom authenticates against; it must match exactly |
| Authentication ID | The Username again |
| Password | The Password from the SIP Auth tab |
| Proxy address | The SIP server |
| Registrar address | The SIP server |
| Outbound proxy | The SIP server, or blank. Clear any value left over from a previous provider |
- Turn on registration and save. The SIP 1 status shows Registered within a few seconds.
The intercom’s field names can differ slightly between firmware versions; match them to the values above.
Step 3: Set What the Call Button Dials
Section titled “Step 3: Set What the Call Button Dials”In the intercom’s directory and button settings, set the call button to dial the extension, ring group or queue that should answer the door, for example 200. Directory, buttons, switches (door strikes), access codes and cards are all configured on the intercom; SIPSTACK does not change them.
What You Need to Maintain Yourself
Section titled “What You Need to Maintain Yourself”Because nothing is provisioned:
- Changes in Switchboard don’t reach the intercom. If the extension’s password or the SIP server changes, update the intercom by hand.
- Firmware stays as installed on the intercom; SIPSTACK hosts no 2N firmware.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| SIP 1 shows not registered | Wrong domain, username or password | Copy the values again from the extension’s SIP Auth tab; use the full username (acme-740), not the bare extension |
| Registration fails, then the intercom can’t reach SIPSTACK at all for a while | The Domain is not your organization’s SIP server (a value from a previous provider, or a typo). Repeated failed registrations from your network can trigger a temporary IP block | Set Domain, Proxy address and Registrar address to the SIP server exactly as shown on the SIP Auth tab, clear any old outbound proxy, wait for the block to clear, then try again. Contact support if it continues |
| Pressing the button does nothing | The button’s directory entry has no number | Set the button to dial an extension, ring group or queue |
| One-way or no audio | SIP ALG or NAT on your router | Turn off SIP ALG; see Network & Firewall |
