Htek IP Phone Setup Guide

← Hardware & Devices

SIPSTACK Nova PBX can generate the configuration for Htek UC900-series desk phones. You register the phone in Switchboard, point it at your organization’s provisioning URL, and it downloads its lines, keys and dial plan.

Every Htek model is marked Beta in the Switchboard model picker and on this page.

Four lines at most. Some UC9xx phones hold more SIP accounts, but SIPSTACK provisions lines 1 to 4 only. If you assign an extension to line 5 or higher, Switchboard shows a warning and the line is not written.

Before You Start: Your Provisioning URL and PIN

Section titled “Before You Start: Your Provisioning URL and PIN”

Every Nova PBX organization has one provisioning URL and one provisioning PIN that all of its phones share:

https://<slug>:<PIN>@cfg.sipstack.com/<slug>/
  • <slug> is your tenant slug (also the username).
  • <PIN> is your provisioning PIN — 8 digits for organizations set up since September 2026.

Both live in Switchboard → Nova PBX → System → PBX Settings → Provisioning Access. The URL is shown with the PIN masked; the Regenerate PIN button reveals a new PIN, once. The PIN is shown once when generated. Lost it? Rotate it in Provisioning Access — phones keep working on the old PIN for 24 hours.

There is no per-device password and nothing to copy from an individual phone’s page: the same URL provisions every phone in your organization.

  1. Log in to Switchboard.
  2. Go to Nova PBX → Devices → Devices and click Register device. If the page asks you to generate your provisioning PIN first, do that in PBX Settings → Provisioning Access — phones cannot be registered until the PIN has been generated.
  3. Enter the phone’s MAC address from the label on the bottom of the phone.
  4. Pick Htek and the model (it shows a Beta badge), then click Register device.
  5. In the key editor, assign an extension to line 1 and add any BLF or speed-dial keys you want.
  6. Click Apply Changes. Applying publishes the phone’s configuration to the provisioning server — until you apply, the server has nothing to hand the phone.

Step 2: Point the Phone at the Provisioning Server

Section titled “Step 2: Point the Phone at the Provisioning Server”

Option A — DHCP. If your DHCP server hands out option 160 with the organization URL above, the phone can fetch its configuration on its own. Some devices read option 66 instead; if yours does, set option 66 to the same URL. See DHCP Option 160.

Option B — enter it in the web UI.

  1. Open http://{phone-ip} in a browser (the IP is shown on the phone’s screen) and sign in as admin.
  2. Go to Management → Auto Provision.
  3. Set Server URL to https://cfg.sipstack.com/<slug>/, User Name to <slug>, and Password to your provisioning PIN.
  4. Click Save, then Autoprovision Now. The phone requests cfg<mac>.xml (its MAC address in lowercase) and registers.
  • Lines 1 to 4. Extension credentials, the Nova SIP server (also set as the outbound proxy, so a proxy left over from a previous provider can’t redirect registrations), registration, label and display name. A line with no extension assigned is turned off and its credentials are cleared.
  • Dial plan. A local dial plan on each line that lets every Nova star code through, including paging (*80 + page group), intercom (*81 + extension), park retrieve (*85), directed pickup (*87 + extension), voicemail (*97, *98), 3- and 4-digit extensions, North American numbers, 011 international, and 911, 988 and 112.
  • Paging and intercom auto-answer. Pages (*80) and intercom calls (*81) are answered hands-free.
  • Voicemail and message waiting. Each line subscribes for the message-waiting light, and voicemail dials *97.
  • Pickup codes. Directed pickup and group pickup use Nova’s codes.
  • BLF keys (up to 36 line keys). A BLF key shows the watched extension’s state.
  • Speed-dial and feature keys. Speed dial, voicemail, group pickup (*88), intercom, paging, Do Not Disturb and call forward keys dial the matching number or Nova code.
  • Codecs from your PBX settings, up to three.
  • Time zone and NTP server, for North American zones Htek lists, when your organization or device has a time zone chosen.
  • Web passwords, when your organization has them set.
  • Plug-and-play off. After the first provision, the phone stops answering plug-and-play offers from other devices on your network.

SIPSTACK sends Htek phones a “reprovision” signal when you click Reprovision on the device page. Depending on the phone’s settings, it may reboot to apply it rather than re-sync in place. Support for this brand is in Beta, so the signal is not yet confirmed on every model: if the device has not picked up your change after a minute, reboot it.

  • Lines 5 and higher (see above).
  • Park keys. A park key is skipped and Switchboard shows a warning. Park calls by transferring them to the park extension instead.
  • Memory keys and expansion modules. Keys on a module are skipped with a warning.
  • TLS transport and registration expiry. The phone keeps its own values.
  • The provisioning password. Your PIN is never written into the configuration file.
  • Firmware. SIPSTACK does not update Htek firmware unless you pin a firmware version for the model in Switchboard, and only where its firmware catalog lists one.
