How to Set Up Pulse on Your Mobile Device

← How-To Guides

SIPSTACK mobile calling uses Pulse, the SIPSTACK softphone app for iPhone and Android. Once signed in, you can make and receive calls on your SIPSTACK extension from your phone.

Note: Cloud Softphone (Acrobits) and “Cloud ID” are not used with SIPSTACK. Older welcome emails asked you to install Cloud Softphone and scan a QR code. If you were sent those instructions, install Pulse instead.

Pulse also runs on Windows, Mac and in a web browser. See Installing Pulse.

Pulse uses your SIPSTACK portal account, the same email and password you use for Switchboard.

  • One-time code (recommended): your administrator opens your extension in Switchboard and clicks Pair Pulse app, or you sign in to Switchboard and go to /pulse/activate. In Pulse, tap Scan QR Code and scan the code. Each code works once and expires after 7 days.
  • Email and password: tap Log in with email and enter your SIPSTACK email and portal password.

See Signing In for details, including two-factor authentication.

When Pulse asks, allow notifications. On a phone, incoming calls wake Pulse through a push notification, so calls may not ring while the app is in the background if notifications are blocked. See First-Run Setup.

Note: Some Android manufacturers apply aggressive battery optimization that can prevent background call delivery. Set Pulse’s battery usage to Unrestricted and tap Fix on any item in the Pulse Home-tab reliability banner.

Open the Calls tab and choose Dialpad. Enter a number or extension and tap the green call button. See Making Calls (Dialpad).
