Setting Up Call Recordings and Audio Prompts

Audio recordings are used throughout Nova PBX for Auto Attendant greetings, IVR prompts, voicemail greetings, and hold messages. You can upload pre-recorded audio files or record directly from a phone extension.

  • Upload: MP3, WAV, OGG
  • Files are automatically converted to the internal format used by the PBX
  1. Log in to the Nova PBX portal.
  2. Navigate to Media Files → Voice Prompts.
  3. Click Create Voice Prompt (the green + button in the top-right action bar).
  4. Choose your recording method:
  1. Select Upload File.
  2. Choose your pre-recorded audio file (MP3 or WAV).
  3. Enter a File Name as reference.
  4. Click Save.
  1. Enter a File Name for the recording.
  2. Select the extension (phone) you want to use for recording.
  3. Click Start Recording — the selected phone will ring.
  4. Answer the phone and record your message.
  5. The window closes automatically when recording completes.

From Media Files → Voice Prompts:

  • Click the Play icon to listen to a recording.
  • Click the Edit (pencil) icon to rename or replace a recording.
  • Click Delete to remove a recording.

Once saved, assign recordings to your IVR menus:

  1. Go to PBX Features → Auto Attendant / Voice Menus.
  2. Edit the menu and select your recording in the What to play field.

To enable automatic recording of all calls or specific extensions, contact SIPSTACK Support. Call recording settings are managed at the account level.
