What Kind of Messages Are Restricted on SIPSTACK SMS?

Section titled “What Kind of Messages Are Restricted on SIPSTACK SMS?”

SIPSTACK’s Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) governs how the platform may be used. The following behaviors are prohibited when sending or receiving SMS messages through SIPSTACK.

These restrictions apply to both the account owner and all end users of that account.

Only send SMS to recipients who have explicitly opted in to your service and are expecting communication from you. SIPSTACK monitors for unsolicited messaging and may block phone numbers or suspend accounts that generate complaints.

Mobile carriers do not allow marketing SMS — whether solicited or not — to be sent via 10-digit long code numbers. SIPSTACK does not support mass marketing campaigns on Canadian, US, or international long code phone numbers.

The following are not permitted:

  • Sending threats
  • Sending unwanted messages
  • “SMS bombing” — sending a high volume of messages to a single number without the recipient’s consent

You are responsible for ensuring your end users do not engage in these behaviors.

Using SIPSTACK as the Only Emergency Communication Channel

Section titled “Using SIPSTACK as the Only Emergency Communication Channel”

SIPSTACK phone numbers must not be used as the primary channel for emergency service communication between providers and end users. SMS can be used to send informational alerts during an emergency, but cannot replace direct emergency service contact. See Can I Use SIPSTACK SMS for Emergency Purposes?

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Messages containing fraudulent or misleading information
  • Phishing messages that request confidential information from recipients
  • Transmitting financial details or sensitive personal data over SMS

Spoofing the Sender ID or otherwise misrepresenting who is sending a message is not permitted. While identifying your brand in messages is encouraged, misrepresentation is a policy violation.

Do not send images that:

  • Promote or facilitate illegal activity
  • Violate applicable laws or federal legislation
  • Are likely to cause offense to recipients

This includes but is not limited to pornographic or explicitly adult content.
