Set Network Ethernet Speed for Polycom SoundPoint Series

If your Polycom SoundPoint IP phone is not connecting at full network speed, verify the Ethernet port settings on the phone and ensure your switch supports the expected rate.

Configure Ethernet Detection Mode

1. Press Menu.
2. Select Advanced.
3. Enter the admin password: 456.
4. Select Admin Settings.
5. Select Network Configuration.
6. Select Ethernet Menu.
7. Set LAN Port Mode to Auto.
8. Set PC Port Mode to Auto.
9. Save and reboot the phone.

Tip

Setting both ports to Auto allows the phone to negotiate the best available speed with your switch automatically.

If Auto Negotiation Still Fails

If both ports are set to Auto and the network is still not connecting at full speed:

1. Return to Ethernet Menu using the steps above.
2. Press Edit on the LAN Port Mode setting.
3. Change the value to 100FD (100 Mbps Full Duplex).
4. Save and reboot the phone.

Caution

Hard-coding the port speed to 100FD should match your switch port configuration. If the switch is set to auto-negotiate, a mismatch may cause a duplex mismatch and reduced performance. Set the switch port to 100 Mbps Full Duplex as well if you hard-code the phone.
